Bergamot

What is it?

Bergamot is a fruit, a citrus fruit to be exact. It looks like someone mixed an orange and a lime together to make a very fragrant, tart, acidic & spicy tasting fruit. It is strangely a fruit that you cannot eat fresh. This fruit is found in the Mediterranean and not common in stores throughout the United States. This fruit grows on a small tree that blossoms in the winter time.

Uses for:

There are many uses of this hard to find fruit. It can be diffused to be used as an oil and as a food source. It is included in tea ingredients and is a main ingredient in Earl Grey tea. Bergamot has a high level photosensitive properties, making it a great tanning product.

It can help to reduce pain and aid in weight loss. My personal favorite is the this oil’s smell. Aromatherapy and air freshening is a great way to use this oil. I’m a huge fan of using Bergamot in aromatherapy. It helps me to reduce stress levels. Looking for a good mood boost? Try add Bergamot to your aromatherapy routine and see everything light up. This oil is so great for your mental health and can be a great resource to help depression. I like that it helps anxiety levels and that helps me to sleep better.

The essential oil of the Bergamot fruit is pretty strong and shouldn’t be put directly on your skin. Try using it with a carrier oil on a small area of skin before starting a routine to make sure your skin doesn’t have a reaction. When you are ready to start using this amazing oil it can help you in so many ways. Use it to help with wounds, or help with inflammation. It can help with acne and is great to use as a facial rinse.
