Shirley Temple was an adorable child actor that a drink was named after. That drink was sprite and grenadine over ice. A more grown up version of that drink that includes vodka (yes, my favorite) and is called Shirley Temple Black, which is the child star’s married name. It is also called the Dirty Shirley, which is what we call it here.
Our version of the Dirty Shirley is a bit different as it includes an ingredient that we make in house now….grenadine. I was super excited to learn how to make an elevated version of grenadine and think it adds a bit more to this simple cocktail. Find our recipe at: Homemade Grenadine.
To make this nostalgic cocktail, simply fill your glass with ice and add all ingredients to stir. Simple ingredients give this drink great flavor and a touch of sweetness from the syrup. I use zero sugar lemon lime soda and whatever vodka is close by.
Such a simple cocktail to enjoy on a hot day, and a great one to serve at a summer BBQ!

Ingredients
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Grenadine
- 8 oz Lemon Lime Soda
- 1 Maraschino Cherry
Instructions
- Simply fill you glass with ice and add the vodka and grenadine. Top with soda and add a cherry for garnish and enjoyment.
