Nothing says summer like citrus fruits and ending the summer would not be complete without a citrus martini recipe. This lemon drop martini is a great addition to end of summer parties and brunches and a great way to close out the season.

As I always say, let’s get the ingredients together first. For this martini we will need vodka, triple sec, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, sugar and lemon twists. Don’t forget your martini glass and shaker with ice! I have really been enjoying chilling my glass as well as the cocktails. If you want to join me in chilled glasses, prepare your martini glass first. Rub a lemon slice around the rim, then coat with sugar. Once that is done add the glass to the freezer while you prepare the cocktail. Fill your shaker with ice, then add your liquid ingredients. Shake for about 30 seconds, then pour into your chilled glass. Add a lemon twist or two and enjoy!
This refreshing cocktail is great for the end of summer and all year with it’s bright flavor and delicious taste! I think it would be fun to mix it up on occasion with a lime drop as well and add a little cherry juice. Citrus is a great ingredient for cocktails all year long, but even better to keep summer going just a little longer.

Tip to enjoy this martini without ice in your glass: Chill your glass ahead of time. I start my sugaring the rim and then placing the whole thing in the freezer ahead of time. This will give your glass the extra chill to enjoy your drink cold even longer! To sugar your rim, rub the rim of the glass with a lemon wedge then tip in a shallow dish of sugar. Coat the rim with a thin layer of sugar and then place the glass in the freezer until you are ready to prepare your cocktail. If you prefer to not have ice in your drinks, this is the way to go!
