It is time to celebrate summer’s favorite fruit: watermelon! This cocktail is refreshing, colorful and the perfect sip for hot days. This recipe is easy to make for one glass, or multiply your ingredients for a pitcher at summer BBQs. As summer is winding down, let’s hang on a little longer with this perfect summer margarita!

Margaritas are delicious all year round, but using this amazing summer fruit adds to this cocktail. You can choose to use a watermelon liqueur any time of year, or use fresh watermelon when it is in season. The recipe here uses the liqueur and the other ingredients to gather are: tequila, lime juice, agave and grenadine. To make this cocktail start with your glass. I like to salt the rim and stick it in the freezer to chill while you prepare the recipe. Next, add all of your ingredients to a shaker of ice and shake to mix. Strain over fresh ice into your glass and use a watermelon, or lime, wedge as a garnish. If you want to use fresh watermelon, blend fresh watermelon chunks until smooth. Strain to make a juice and add to your ingredients in place of the liqueur.

This Margarita has the perfect level of sweetness and is a great summery twist on the classic margarita. It is a beautiful color and a showstopper at events. If you want to mix it up make it frozen by blending with ice, instead of shaking. You can add jalapeno for a spicy kick or substitute Mezcal for a smoky flavor. Add a summery vibe by serving in mason jars, instead of margarita glasses.
This fun drink is perfect for every occasion from backyard BBQs to Taco Tuesdays at home. If you try this cocktail recipe, let us know your thoughts in the comments! As always, thank you for reading and joining us on this journey. We love learning and growing with you. Simply, Beth
