What is it?
Lemongrass is a type of grass. Yes, I know. A silly question, gets a silly answer. Want to take a guess at what this grass tastes like? Yup, lemons… Shocking isn’t it?! This edible plant comes from Africa, Asia and Australia and is a tropical plant.
Uses for:
Lemongrass can be used in a variety of ways. It can be used in food and drinks as a flavoring, an ingredient or even as a garnish. Often the lemon teas use lemongrass to attain the flavor. Lemongrass is also used as a fragrance in many health and personal care items like soaps and deodorants.
While we do not use lemongrass in our kitchen, we do use it in our bathrooms. Lemongrass is a great scent for aromatherapy, especially at the end of the day. We diffuse it, but also use it in bath products to promote calm.
Benefits of Using the Essential Oils:
Lemongrass has some great antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it a great ingredient to add to your skincare routine. With those anti-inflammatory properties, lemongrass essential oil is great to mix with a carrier oil and use on parts of the body that are affected by arthritis or swelling. Lemongrass also helps to reduce nausea, bloating and cramping. It promotes digestive health and is a great medicinal tool to help with an upset stomach. Lemongrass promotes anxiety relief and a reduction of stress. It can also ease headaches. The benefits are endless for this amazing grass and it’s bi-products.
Tin Box Products that use Lemongrass:
If you decide to use essential oils, please do your own research before ingesting or applying to your skin. It does not have the same effect for everyone. While I am an avid user, I am not a health professional. Please reach out if you have any questions and ask your health professional before starting a medicinal routine. We look forward to sharing more about our ingredients and hearing how you use them in your own home. Thank you for reading!
