It is no secret that I’m a vodka drinker. I have been drinking vodka from the beginning and I have never let a “bad experience” deter me from sticking by my favorite cocktail. As I get older I have been experimenting with ingredients and mixing it up a bit from my very basic vodka and sprite drink that is my go-to regular cocktail. I’ve never tasted a mule, but I love ginger and thought that it was time.
There are so many different kinds! Did you know that mules can be American, Russian (Moscow) and even Mexican? The identifier comes from they type of alcohol being added. I’ll be using vodka made in American so I will be sharing a recipe for an American mule today, but there are varieties. The Moscow mule uses Russian vodka, a Mexican mule uses tequila instead of vodka, a Kentucky Mule replaces the vodka with a bourbon and a Gin Gin mule replaces the vodka with, yes you guessed it, Gin. We are going to do an American Mule here, because Murica.
To get started, pull together your ingredients: Vodka made in America (I chose Skyy because it’s generally what I have on hand), ginger beer, limes and a copper mug. This recipe doesn’t require any fancy bar equipment, just the fancy cups. The copper is amazing and really takes on the temperature of your drink.
To make this recipe simply add ice and your ingredients to the cup. Stir them together and enjoy!
As always, thank you for reading and joining us on this journey.
