Need a breakfast that’s quick, kid-approved and freezer-friendly? This is definitely your best bet! French toast sticks feel like a treat, but are easy to make in batches. They are great for dipping, grabbing on the go and keeping the morning stress-free.

Let’s get those ingredients together! Get your brioche bread loaf (or Texas toast), eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract, sugar and maple syrup. Don’t forget the butter for the skillet and start putting everything together. Whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar and maple syrup in a large bowl. Cut the bread in strips. I cut long ways and got three strips per slice of bread. Now it is time to dip and bake! Dip each stick into the batter and let the excess drip off. Place on greased baking sheet until you have a full sheet, or 2 or 3! Bake for about 20 minutes and let cool. Once cooled you can serve right away, or flash freeze for longer storage. Note: only dip one strip of bread at a time. They become soggy quickly and if you try to be efficient and add more than a few, you will find crumbly bread waiting for you in the batter. Don’t ask me how I know that.

If you are freezing, flash freeze on a dry baking sheet for at least 2 hours, then package for storage. We like to vacuum seal our freezer meals and ingredients to assure longer shelf life without freezer burn. I added about 6 strips to each bag for easy toddler breakfasts. To reheat, simply pull a bag the night before and thaw overnight in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave for quick breakfasts, or if you have the time to preheat the oven, bake for about 10 minutes.
These delicious sticks are great for fast breakfasts and much better to eat than processed sticks from the freezer section. Serve with syrup, whipped cream and fruit for a festive treat for your littles. As always, thank you for reading and joining us on this journey. We love learning and growing with you. Simply, Beth
