5 Easy Make-Ahead Breakfasts to Simplify Your Mornings

Mornings don’t have to be a scramble—unless we’re talking eggs! Prepping is a great way to simplify mornings and save time and money. It is a great way to start the day with a hot breakfast to fuel you through until lunch. Make-ahead breakfasts are great for busy school mornings, days with early work meetings, or just for those who like to sleep as late as possible! Enjoy these 5 easy make-ahead breakfasts to simplify your mornings.

1. Make-Ahead Egg Sandwiches

I LOVE egg sandwiches and the only thing that makes it better is when I don’t have to make them in the mornings! When I have a little extra time, I prefer to make a healthy version of my favorite breakfast and freeze ahead for easier (and more tasty) mornings! These egg sandwiches are a great way to start any day and the ingredients are on point for healthy eating too! What’s better than that?!

2. Freezer Pancakes

Why would you make pancakes ahead of time? Well for me the ease of reheating takes off the stress of making pancakes from scratch first thing in the morning. For those with school age kids, I don’t know anyone who is interested in pulling those ingredients together when everyone is working on getting out of the door on time. Pancakes are easily made ahead and can be frozen for easier mornings.

3. French Toast Sticks

French toast sticks feel like a treat, but are easy to make in batches. They are great for dipping, grabbing on the go and keeping the morning stress-free. Serve with syrup for dipping, or add whipped cream and serve with your choice of fruits. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth!

4. Breakfast Burritos

These make-ahead breakfast burritos work so well because they are a balanced meal (if made right), and keep you full until lunch time. They are easy to reheat in the microwave and save you both time and money by skipping the drive-thru window. Need them to be lower carb? Use carb-wise tortillas. Need a vegetarian version? Skip the meat and add in beans and more veggies. Have a picky eater? Make it just cheese, meat and rice. So many ways to make these burritos work for you and your family.

5. Make-Ahead Eggs (Multiple Ways)

Eggs are a great thing to make for breakfast, and even better when they are made ahead. They reheat well, making getting out the door that much easier and they are so easy to customize for different tastes! Do you prefer scrambled eggs with mushrooms, onions and peppers? Great! Not a scrambled egg person? Maybe try an omelet instead! I love making a large omelet and cutting it into strips for our daughter. I make the omelet one day and it lasts for three or four days! A fried egg can work too, but the first two ideas in this paragraph are better in my opinion.

Some simple tips to make the most out of freezing breakfast:

Let ingredients cool completely before assembling, or freezing. This will help deter condensation and extra water in your packaging

Make sure to date and label everything. Things can easily get lost in the freezer, or the fridge for that matter. Labels and dates help keep everything in order and never leaves you wondering how long that item has been there.

If you have a vacuum sealer use it, if not, consider it. We use ours regularly to package value packs of proteins into smaller packages, or to individually wrap our freezer items! Less air in the packaging means more life in the freezer.

Remember that these are just ideas, but ones that we have lived by for years. We hope you find a little inspiration to get hot meals on the table, or at least in hands, in the morning in a healthier and less stressful way.
